Training Methods
The course is a mixture of theory, practical demonstrations and practical application of the theory in using moving and handling aids to move people safely. A workbook is also completed with moving and handling relevant questions.
Assessment Criteria
The Learner is assessed on their ability to complete a series of Patient Moving & Handling tasks safely.
Certification
A Certificate of Attendance is issued upon successful completion of the training.
This certificate is valid for two years from date of issue.
Fire Safety in Healthcare
COURSE TIMES & LOCATIONS:
Instructors will complete training on-site. Course duration 2- 3 hours and may vary and can be discussed at the time of booking.
WHO SHOULD TAKE THIS COURSE:
This course is aimed at all staff in Healthcare environment.
WHY SHOULD STAFF TAKE THIS COURSE:
To comply with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007 Chapter 4 Part 2
COURSE AIMS:
On completion of this Fire Safety Course, participants will be able to:-
Describe the chemistry of fire
Identify fire hazards in the workplace
Follow evacuation procedures
Select and use appropriate firefighting equipment
FIRE SAFETY COURSE CONTENT:
Legislation – an overview of fire safety legislation.
Understanding the physics and chemistry of fire
Development and spread of fire
Means of raising an alarm
Means of summoning the fire brigade
Action on hearing the fire alarm
Evacuation Equipment – Ski Sheet, Sheet Rescue, Evac Chair
Evacuation procedure
Practical demonstration in the use of foam and CO2 fire extinguishers
COURSE OUTCOMES:
Reduce the risk of fire hazards & knowledge of correct procedures in the event of Fire.
Successful delegates will receive a Fire Safety Certificate which will be emailed to your company on completion. This certificate is valid for 1 year.
Heartsaver CFR (IHF)
This course provides responding personnel with the knowledge and skill to recognise a cardiac arrest, perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
Training Objectives:
On completion of this course participants will be able to:
Recognise Cardiac Arrest
Perform CPR
Use an AED
Recognise Choking and Treatment
Know the steps to take to assist a choking victim

Scene Assessment

Basic Life Support (BLS) for Adults & Children

Course Duration: 3 – 3.5 hours
Certification:
All successful candidates will be certified in CPR and AED through the Irish Heart Foundation
(IHF) Certification is valid for 2 years from date of issue, thereafter subject to re-certification.

Basic Life Support BLS (IHF)
This Irish Heart Foundation / American Heart Association certified course covers CPR, use of a defibrillator and first aid for choking. It also covers use of a bag valve mask and high performance CPR.
This course is suitable for Nurses in Acute and Primary Care, physicians such as General Practitioners, Dentists and allied healthcare professionals.
Training Objectives:
BLS course is designed to provide healthcare professionals with high quality CPR skills, how to use an Automated External Defibrillator, relief of choking and how to use a Bag valve mask.
Course Syllabus:
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
Using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
Relief of choking – Adult, Infant and Child
Use of a Bag Valve Mask (BVM)
High performance CPR
Course Assessment:
Assessed by practical skills
Course Certification:
Course completion card.
Renewal every 2 years.

Infection Prevention & Control IPC
This course is aimed at any person working in the nursing, healthcare or any profession where infection control and management of it is required.
Participants will receive a certificate that is valid for 2 years
Course content:
An overview on Infection control including Hospital Acquired Infections causes and occurrences.
The World Health Organisation information on “Cleaner Care is Safer Care Pact”
Infection Prevention and control
Hand Hygiene including how to wash hands in line with the Strategy for the Control of Antimicrobial Resistance in Ireland (SARI) regulations. This includes the correct techniques and when to use Alcohol Hand Gels. A practical session for each participant to wash hands and view areas of hands missed.
Waste Management and Decontamination issues.
Personal Protection including the types of protective equipment available to use.
Needle stick injuries or any occupational health injury/ accident – what to do and how to report it.
Duration – 3 Hrs
