First Aid Responder FAR (PHECC)


First Aid Responder is the gold standard in First Aid Training for the workplace.Under the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007, there is a requirement on employers based on a risk assessment to have a sufficient number of First Aid Responders trained and deployed in the workplace.

Details: A comprehensive and practical three-day First Aid course which is designed to train personnel who are involved in First Aid in the workplace.

Certification is valid for 2 years.

Course Assessment

HMG Safety Training implement procedures for the assessment of learners, which are required to be fair and consistent. The contents of this document outline the requirements of the assessment.

Objectives: This course is suited to staff members who may have to deal with medical emergencies in the work place.

Method: The course is highly interactive with each theory session being followed by demonstration, and practical tasks and an assessment.

Attendees: Anyone in industry.

Requirements: None.




First Aid Responder Refresher (PHECC)

 A comprehensive two day course designed to ensure First Aid Responders are kept up to date with current procedures and protocols. The Health & Safety Authority (HSA) now recognises the First Aid Response (FAR) training course as meeting the needs of occupational first aid.

This 2-Day course is open to anyone who currently holds a valid Occupational First Aid or First Aid Response Certificate which is due for renewal – even if the previous training was not provided by us. Refresher courses are essential every two years to maintain your status as an First Aid Responder, to keep up with developments in first aid and to refresh skills learned previously that may be only intermittently used.

The refresher course incorporating the CFR Community standard offers a recap of the original course and is designed according to the identification of training needs of the individual participants of each class.

This course is designed to enable the learner to:

Understand the responsibilities of the occupational first aider

Provide treatment for the purpose of preserving life or minimising the consequences of an injury until discharge or the arrival of medical assistance

Provide treatment in the workplace for an injury which does not require the attention of a medical practitioner or nurse

Be capable of coordinating first aid arrangements in the workplace

Be familiar with Health and Safety legislation on First Aid provision in the workplace

Method: The course is highly interactive with theory being followed by demonstration, practical tasks and an assessment.

Attendees: Anyone interested in maintaining their skills up to date and their qualification current.

Requirements: Current OFA of FAR Certificate.

Certification: All Safety Training is affiliated to Qualtec which is a PHECC Recognised institution (RI). All successful participants will receive First Aid Responder Certification Which will be valid for two years.

Duration: 2 days

CFR Community


A Cardiac First Responder Community course is designed to give community members an understanding of Basic Life Support situations and their treatment. In just 4 hours, your community group can learn to use an AED (an automated external defibrillator), how to apply CPR for adults and infants and treat someone who is choking; as well as a host of basic first aid skills. Additionally, if you are specifically interested in learning how to respond to a cardiac emergency, the 4 hour courses are the perfect training option.

Whether you are a parent, a carer, a community group leader or a just someone who wants to know how to help, our training courses enable you with the skills to keep yourself, and those around you safe.

Objectives: This course is ideally, but not critically suited to staff members who need a basic understanding of First Aid in the work place.

Method: The course is interactive and is video/DVD driven with demonstration, and practical tasks and an assessment.

Attendees: Anyone involved in the provision of first aid either in an organisation, community or sports club.

Requirements: None.

Certification: On completion of the course and assessment, participants will receive a PHECC Certificate in Cardiac First Response which is valid for two years.

Duration: 1/2 day

Basic First Aid (Including Introduction to CPR AED)

A half day course designed to introduce participants to the principles of basics of First Aid. This course is designed to enable the learner to: Understand the responsibilities of the first aider. Provide treatment for the purpose of preserving life or minimising the consequences of injury until discharge or the arrival of medical assistance, Provide treatment for an injury which does not require the attention of medical personnel, the treatment of a patient with breathing difficulty and/or cardiac arrest and the operation of AED defibrillators for Adult, Child and Infants and deal with heart attack, angina and many other emergencies that may occur.

We have tailor made a comprehensive program to cover most of the relevant incidents that you may encounter. We ensure that participants are confident in coping with these emergencies. Confidence is everything when true emergencies are at hand.

Hopefully you will never need to use the lifesaving skills you learn with us, but after attending our class you will have the knowledge to tackle a medical emergency should it arise.
